Wrong IP address returned when pinging

I am trying to connect a Win ME PC to a LAN with 4 Win XP
PC's. All was well untill a few days ago. The ME PC
stoped "seeing" only certain XP PC's. Using WINIPCFG I
pinged the ME PC from an XP PC using X.X.X.010 and PING
returned X.X.X.008.

Is this partt of the networking problem?

Check your hosts table(s). It sounds like your
configuration was changed somehow and the old references
are no longer correct. 2nd suggestion: if you are using
DHCP, the clients table may need to be updated by
releasing and renewing the IP leases from the DHCP server.
