Hi,
You are not the only one where the installation didn't work as described in
the installation guide, but my case is different.
The installation from CD-ROM resulted in the "not a valid integer" message.
I decided to wait for a while but no Congratulations for me. If I remember
right, there was a message a bit later "restart your PC".
I powered down the PC, installed the WPC54G and power on again => card was
recognized and the Linksys utility showed up in the system tray.
The settings (SSID, WEP key, MAC filtering) were done through the Linksys
utility by double-clicking on the detected WLAN (Site Survey page).
Driver version: I checked the driver version on the Linksys support page,
but the version was the same as on the CD-ROM.
PC details
- Toshiba laptop running Win2K Pro
Slow PC - I didn't notice anything, my Toshiba Portege P1-150 MHz is already
dead sloooow from the start, but good enough for surfing and chatting.
- Driver version: 3.30.15.0, vesion: WPC54G European
- WLAN monitor Linksys, version 1.35
It would be nice to know if there is an install package without the "not a
valid integer" message.
PS: tried the installation on a Win98SE machine as well => same error
message.
Hint: try it for the last time:
- uninstall using the control panel
- check the device manager and remove the driver (if not already gone)
- remove card
- follow the quick install guide
/rob
