Hi All: I have a Linksys PCMCIA card (WPC54G) for my Compaq laptop
running Windows 2000. I've got excellent connectivity between the AP
and the laptop. However, I cannot connect to the internet. I've tried
entering a DNS server address as Linksys suggests but it did not work.
I get a IP and everything works fine up to the router, I can't get to
the internet. Is there some setting in the router (also a Linksys)
that is preventing the card from getting to the internet? I have one
other Desktop with a wireless PCI card that works fine (Windows XP
home). Any ideas?
Thanks in advance for your help.

What IP are you getting when you enter IPCONFIG? because if the IP starts
with 169.xxx, the TCP/IP on the machine is not getting a valid IP. The
169.xxx is a default IP assigned by the MS O/S, when it cannot get a vail d
IP.

I had a similar problem tonight installing a wpc54g card. winipcfg
said i had 192 number but the wlan moniter program sad the card had a
169 number. Configured the card with fixed IP of 192.168.1.149 and
then I had internet connectivity but couldn't browse the network.
After rebooting i chose log off. When it logged back on all worked
ok.
