John,
What type of router and wireless brand do you have. I assume you have a
Linksys Card.(WPC11). If you have under your network settings the SSID and
Linksys, AND have the same workgroup name for the PC you are mentioning and
any other PC on your wireless net. Most Linksys environments I have seen use
autosensing for the channel (vs. channel 6). You said you uninstalled
software and hardware? Did you do that from device manager for hardware and
"add remove software" for the linksys software. Did you reinstall software
before you connected hardware (this is key, for I don't care what Linksys
setup guide for WinXp says, its software 1st and hardware 2nd.
I am experiencing trouble not with internet access but peer to peer among
the PC's in the home. I am 99% sure Zonealarm is the culprit and I am
calling them direct, even though they say they have no live telephone
support.
Let me know if any of my suggestions were of any help.. good luck and let me
know.
Mike
