I have several workstations in my domain that periodically loose their SID's
I can't seem to identify a pattern as to when or why this happens, but I get
the following message in the event log when it happens:

The computer (Computer Name) tried to connect to the server (Server Name)
using the trust relationship established by the domain (Domain Name) .
However, the computer lost the correct security identifier (SID) when the
domain was reconfigured. Reestablish the trust relation

TechNet tells me to remove the system from the domain and then put it back
into the domain, and this always works, but I am more interested in WHY this
happens so I can correct the problem not the symptom, or at least take
precautions to reduce the occurances of this error.

Do you happen to stage your workstations with ghost or another imaging
program? It could be you did not run sysprep.

I just joined the organization where these machines are located, but I can
say with a large degree of certainty that this is not the case because I just
purchased Ghost a few weeks ago for the organization, nor is there anyone
working for the organization prior to me that was knowledgable on how to use
Ghost or any sort of partitioning programs such as partition magic etc.
