Server 2003 workstation services did not start up after a restart. Event
viewer has this error. "The Workstation service depends on the following
nonexistent service: nsi"
Any idea how to get this NSI service back on?

Hello robpiolink,

NSI seems to be not a default windows server 2003 service. My 2003 workstation
service doesn't depend on any other service. Check if you have "network store
interface service" and if it is started. I know this one from Vista and server
2008.

Best regards

You can edit the registry to remove that ghost dependency. Find NSI under
the following branch and delete then reboot the computer.

HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\NSI

Backup your registry before making any modifications.
