Hi Everyone,

We've got an issue that's effecting all the PC's (both vista and XP) within
our Windows 2k3 domain.

Whenever a PC is first booted up it will hang on running startup scripts. It
seems to happen to PCs within the domain at random, sometimes they boot up
fine other times they can take up to 30mins to get to a login prompt.

Looking in the event viewer on the workstations they have a a netlogin event
ID 5719 (no domain controller is available), but the domain controller isn't
showing any errors.

Does anyone have any ideas what could be the problem?

Hello John,

Make sure ot use only domain DNS server ip on the NIC's no external one's
like your ISP. Also make sure on the machines that following policy is enabled:

Computer Configuration, Administrative Templates, System, Logon, in the right
pane "Always wait for the network at computer startup and logon"

Best regards

In addition to Meinolf's reply, you might post an unedited ipconfig /all
from a problem workstation & from your DC.

Dear Mr. Weber,
I am able to find the location on my laptop to fix the netlogin ID 5719. I
am running XP. Can you give me a more detailed diretory tree to follow?

Hello Lance,

Directory tree??? Are you the OP that started this posting? My answer belongs
to a 2003 Domain controller not to XP.

Best regards
