Please point me to a different newsgroup if this question
is not appropriate.

I have two computers that share the same router and have
been named as part of the same WORKGROUP. They are both
XP machines. The problem that I am having is that
sometimes I can list the members of the workgroup yet I
cannot see the detail (shares, printers, etc.) of that
computer because I get a permission denied error.
Sometimes I don't even see the other computer when I try
to list the members of the workgroup. Any idea what is
wrong? How to fix it?

the first question sounds like permission issue. What do you get if using
net view \\remotepc name? if it is error 5, this is permission issue; if 53,
this is connection or name resolution issue.

Thank you. Between your suggestion and the web site you sited below I was
able to resolve the problem. I did not have NetBios over TCP/IP enabled.
