Wooden parabolic dish antenna

Who said that parabolic dish antennas are ugly? All it takes is a
little carpentry and a perfectly serviceable dish antenna can be built
from wood and common materials. I found this example at a local
thrift shop:

Note the clever tilt and swivel mounting arrangement, also made from
wood. The design is light weight, cheap, easy to assemble,
aesthetically tolerable, and can potentially produce a substantial
signal gain. Since there was no obvious antenna feed, I'm guessing it
was used as a reflector, with a radio or access point at the focus.

I was going to reply, saying what I think that really is, but then I
realized, either I'm wrong and it really is a reflector (wood as a
reflector?!?), or you already know what it is and posted this as a
joke.

So instead I'll reply with a...

LOL

:-)

Well Jeff,

It's either a reflector like you said with an access point at the
focal point,,

OR

some poor guy is walking real stiff and real funny,,,

You could add thick piece of glass to it and you could have a nice round
table, but the glass may negate the "use of antenna", depending on the
frequency...
