Wont Update..

Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 SP2

When i use the MSBN Util, and it pops up with a box that
says "Critical Updates Avaible, would you like to
install?" and i click yes.. a box pops up that
says "detecing update process" or something of the sort,
and then just goes away real fast.. same thing with the
help>> update

any help

Try manually downloading the file and doing the installation. It is
available from here:

When I do the maual update.. the first time i click next
i get the error:


MICROSOFT VISTUAL C++ RUNTIME LIBRARY

Runtime Error!

Program: ... (SHOWS ME THE PATH TO THE EXE)

This application has requested the runtime to terminate
it in an unusual way.

What else do you have running in the background, like anti-virus software or
perhaps a third-party firewall? If it is anything Norton (Symantec), McAfee
or a firewall like ZoneAlarm, you've got to totally shut those down.

I am having this same exact problem. Disabling firewalls,
anitvirus etc doesn not help.
