The machine doesn't seem to recognize to talk to the
ethernet card to get to the modem. Happened after I
reloaded 98SE to solve another problem, reinstalled
network card. Device driver says card is working
properly, green power light comes on when I plug in modem
(and device profile enabled) but talking lights don't
flicker. tried disabling/enabling no luck. Modem okay,
working on another pc to send this note! Winsock? I
don't know how to check/fix. thanks.

I have a problem similar to Kevin's above. I checked the link on your site but am unable to determine what the fix is? Could you specifically call out the solution

Thanks.

I don't see what message you are referencing. Could you be more specific as
to what the problem is?

Thanks,
Carey

I installed an Ethernet adapter (D-Link DFE-530TX+) on my machine running Windows98 so I could connect my cable modem using Ethernet. After installing the PCI card and drivers, the adapter and TCP/IP item show up as expected in device manager and are reported to be working correctly. But when I run winipcfg.exe to get the IP address for the adapter, I don't see the ethernet adapter in winipcfg. I only see two pre-existing entries - PPP & Microsoft TV/Video connection - in the winipcfg UI

You had replied another message (link below) with a link to your website. I am unable to see a solution for such a problem on that web page. Any help will be appreciated

Thanks

I would recommend you boot the PC into Safe Mode and remove all network
adapters from your device manager. Then reboot and reload the drivers for
the DFE-530TX+ and see if that resolves it for ya.
