wlan linux-slow win-fast

Hi.
What can be wrong if i use the same
hardware on wireless link (betwen accesspoint and wireless pci card)
and under windows it works good (fast)
but under linux is slow. (lost packects more than 80%) ?

Hardware:
1. PCI Planet wl-8310 chipset atheros, driver for linux madwifi
2. AccessPoint SmartBridge or EWA or somethin else..varies

Linux:
Aurox (Polish) on RedHat kernel 2.4
Windows:
XP Professional SP1
