wlan karte eines büros erstellen

hallo,
ich soll von unserem bürogebäude mit konferenzräumen eine karte mit allen
hotspots und access-points erstellen inklusive standort und reichweite und
abstrahlungsrichtung etc.
kann mir jemand erklären, wie ich das am besten anstelle?
ich habe mehrere notebooks und verschiedene wlan karten zur verfügung über
unsere technikabteilung (ua elsa mc11 und siemens i-gate11)
ich habe auch schon netstumbler, look@lan und ethereal runtergeladen aber
bin mit der kombi nicht sehr zufrieden.. oder muss ich die standorte der zt
eingebauten und vergessenen aps per kreuzpeilung rausfinden?
ich bin auch gern bereit ein linux aufzusetzen und das zu verwenden, nur
bräuchte oich da etwas hilfe, weil ich da nur sehr wenig ahnung habe.

here's a chort translation of my problem:
i have to draw a map of our bureau, in which all access points are mentioned
but i have to find them including their range an their channels, brev, with
all teir configuration.
i've already downloaded netstumbler, ethereal and Look@la, but these don't
give me the places where i find the ap's. the problem is, that the ap's were
once installed and that noone knows today the position, where they where
installed an for which use.
i could also use linux for this purpose, but i dont have any idea how this
would work.
can anyone help me please?

Looking for the whereabouts of the APs via Netstumbler et al is somewhat
like playing Marco Polo -- continue to take readings and triangulate to
find the source. While a lot less hip, it would seem easier to simply chase
the network cabling connecting to the APs to wired net, or the power cabling
for the APs.

How many (or how many do you believe) are installed? How large a facility
are you trying to map?

the problem with that is, that i do not have access to all rooms. moreover,
some aps are under the floor or in the wall and therefore inaccessible.
an the thing with the wired net: with hundereds of kilometers of cable this
would be quite difficult ;-)

with netstumbler, i found about eleven to twenty
