Please forgive me if I am posting in the wrong group.
I just got a new laptop a Gateway CX210X that comes with an Intel WLAN
NIC A/B/G (I'll have to look up the exact model - if you need me to let
me know).
I have a Netgear WG302 WAP
I have a Dell Inspiron 1150 that works perfectly with the WAP.
Now, Here's the question. What's the deal with the new laptop.
Here's what I have done in general and to test the issue.
Got the laptop.
Turned it on.
Started cleaning the system. I removed AOL, View Media (what ever that
media spyware that AOL installs), removed Napster, etc. Same type of
things I did when I got my Dell.
I setup the WLAN the same way I have done in the past (ie on the DELL).
If I use the Intel WLAN software I get the below problem.
If I use the MS WLAN setup I can NOT connect period.
The WLAN connects, disconnects, connects, disconnects, you get the idea.
It will stay connected for a few minutes. When it is connected and I
ping my server (I have a LAN) the pings are like 250ms the speed is
slower then the days of modems.
I have this problem in the same room as the WAP and across the house.
I have it when there is no security enabled as well as with security.
That's the sum of it all. If you need more details let me know.
What I am thinking of doing. Is wiping the hard drive and resintalling
WinXP (Tablet) from scratch and install everything myself (a nice clean
system

). Any thoughts?

I want e-mail netgear but my mail got bounced.
I am about to E-Mail Intel.
What I have done. Defrag'ed, used CCleaner. I plugged into the LAN and
speeds are fine. I got all updates, hotfixs, etc from MS. I found the
latest driver from Intel and installed it. So far no luck.
