There are other bits to using mobile IP - a home gateway device
specifically.
You also need to be able to take the traffic inefficiencies, as some of the
packets have to go via the home gateway even if it is not on the direct path
between user and server.

if the APs are connected to the same Layer 2 backbone (ie. plugged into the
same switch cloud), and configured to co-operate, then you should get
wireless handoff without changing IP address - the device stays in the same
subnet.
