Hi,

I need to boost my WLAN as my house is being extended. I use Netgear kit
and see they sell an antenna (ANT24D18) which significantly boosts the
signal range.

To comply with EU regs. I would have to (voluntarily) use a 30m cable to
attenuate the signal.

Much shorter cables (1.5m) are offered which are legal in US only.

What are the issues behind this regulation? Are there Health issues or is
it purely down to Broadcasting control?

Regards

La di da

The regulations are to prevent unnecessary interference to other
users.

With a quoted range of up to 10 miles, use of such a device at
full power would be anti social in a domestic environment and
would possibly attract a knock on the door from the OFCOM radio
interference department followed by confiscation of said equipment
and a fine.
