The regulations are to prevent unnecessary interference to other
users.
With a quoted range of up to 10 miles, use of such a device at
full power would be anti social in a domestic environment and
would possibly attract a knock on the door from the OFCOM radio
interference department followed by confiscation of said equipment
and a fine.
