I had my MN-500 setup as an access point, but hadn't used
it for a while. I now have a DSL modem and am trying to
reconfigure the MN-500. I restored the factory settings,
then ran the MS Broadband Network Utility and started the
Setup Wizard from the Tools menu.

I was able to follow the steps just fine to install the
base station between my PC and my DSL modem. My Internet
Connection has been reestablished. I confirmed my base
station settings and clicked on Next to configure the
base station. I got the message "The wizard can't
configure the base station".

I've tried restoring the factory settings several times.
To the best of my knowledge I don't have a software
firewall or other Internet security software. I've
disabled by McAfee Virus Shield. Nothing seems to make a
difference.

Is there anything else I can try? Any ideas?

Open your browser and go to 192.168.2.1 (the default base station address,
unless you've changed it) and configure from there. The default password is
"admin" without the quotes. You do not need to software to set up the base
station.

I assume you have done a hardware reset on the MN-500
using the reset button. I have also foung that the MN-500
has an internal power on reset problem and you need to
leave power off the unit for several minutes in order to
fully reset the unit (at least mine). I had similar
problem in reconfiguring the unit until I removed power
for an extended period of time.
