I am trying to set up an ad-hoc network. I can connect to the network on
both computers; however here is the problem: I can not ping one computer to
another. For an example I can't ping the laptop to the desktop and I can't
ping the desktop to the laptop. Here is the desk top ipconfig /all command

Ad-Hoc networks don't normally have DHCP servers. And based on your ipconfig
your network doesn't have one. Are you attempting to enable ICS on the
desktop? By sharing the Intel(R) PRO/100 VE Network card? If so your not
making the network connection.

I've been having the same problem. Unlike the other dude, I have it set up
statically. I did the NETWORK.NET DNS suffix thing and added the computer
name "compname.network.net" and the address to the hosts file and stuff. I
have internet connection but I can't see other computer in my network places
and I can't map to the Hosts shared docs. I have been at it for days. It's
my vacation IT project. I hope you could help. Thanks!

Yeah I did something like that (mshome.net instead) and it worked, but when I
restarted my laptop the settings changed.
