Wirless network cards

Trying to install a wireless network card on a W98
desktop. Drivers load OK but when I plug in the card the
machine will not boot. Have tried switching to other
spare slots - same result.

Card is a Netgear wag311 but Neatgear sem unable or
unwilling to respond.

Any ideas?
