Using a D-Link DWL-650M PCMCIA I cannot view available networks. I have
tried to use the Windows Wireless Zero Configuration service to rectify this
but it does not exist in my Services area under Computer Management -
Services & Applications - Services area. Do I need to install this service?
I am running Win XP SP2.

Hi,

I have the same problem as the original poster. However, the offered
suggestion by Jack does not help. In the Event Viewer, System folder, there
are numrous error messages such as

Event type: Error
Event source: Service Control Manager
Event-ID: 7000
Desciption:
Service Wireless Zero Configuration could not be started due to the folloing
error:
File not found

Someone have an idea what file we are missing?

Regards
Soren

Thanks Jack,

the kb article refers to Event ID 7000, but the associated error message
refers to a login problem. In my case the error message refers to File not
found, so unfortunately this kb article does not relate to my problem. I just
wonder what file is missing. I get the same error essage when executing

net start wzcsvc

in a CMD window.

The wzcsvc.dll is not missing in the system32 folder.
