The channel is only used when you want to connect 2 consoles for wireless
system link. When you want your adapter to connect to your router you MUST
leave it on INFRASTRUCTURE.
Also, since your adapter is new you probably have not upgraded the firmware
version; if you haven't you need to broadcast your SSID or the MN-740 won't
recognize the network. The newer firmware fixes this, but you need to
connect first, check if you are broadcasting your SSID, if not, enable
broadcasting.
The MN-740 does support 128-WEP, you may want to disable for the sake of
testing if you get a connection or not and then try to enable it later.
