The topology of the network:
SMC7004VWBR is a 802.11b wireless router which provides the internet
connection. The router communicates wirelessly with an Asus WL-330g,
which I'm using as wireless adapter (wi-fi) NIC. The WL-330g connects
to eth0 of the gateway computer, arrakis. Arrakis eth0 is dynamic.
Arrakis eth1 is set to 192.168.0.1. The switch connects to arrakis
eth1. A secondary computer, caladan (192.168.0.2) connects to the
switch.
This is based on a diagram at
<http://www.fs-security.com/docs/connection-sharing.php>.
It's a bit weird in that the WL-330g is doing some wireless to wired
network bridging with arrakis as a gateway, but this appears to be the
only viable option. Given that arrakis must act as a gateway in order
for caladan to get on the internet, does the above make sense?
Thanks,
Thufir
