Wireless to Wired Cable Internet Connection

I am currently connected to Cable Internet using a LinkSys wireless
access point however with this being the only computer left in our
home network, I would like to convert this back to being wired.

I bought a D-Link Network Card for my Dell Desktop but I can't get
Windows ME to read it at all. I have tried everything but when I run
'ipconfig' it says "disconnected" yet in Hardware profile it says
'Device working properly'. I ran the Home Networking Wizard to edit
the profile to use a direct internet connect with the D-Link card,
tried changing the Network settings and everything...I just can't get
it to work with the network card, however I can switch back to the
Wireless card and all is fine. Any suggestions on how to switch from
wireless to wired? Thanks. Erica

How did you run the cable from the Dell? Is there a port in the wireless
"AP" for connecting additional computers or did you remove the AP and
directly from the Dell into the cable modem? The only thing I can think of
is the cable company might need to know the new MAC address of the Dell
card. Did the card say compatible with Win ME? Is TCP/IP set to get IP
automatically?
