>>When connecting to VPN using the card I loose the internet connection, but
>>when VPN is disconnected the internet snaps back on .

If I understand your wording correctly, then this part of the behavior is
to be expected! When you VPN (aka 'tunnel'), you are building a 'shield'
around your PC, and you will get an entirely different and REMOTE IP-ADDRESS
from the place that you VPN to. So, it that remote network has, for
example,
a (corporate?) firewall, then now that you are tunneled there, you are
behind the
firewall. (So, without a proxy, you shouldn't expect access to the outside
'Internet'.)
And once you break the tunnel-connection, then (of course) whatever Internet
connectivity that you had prior to that, will return.

That said, other parts of your problem description seem to imply that, with
the
notebook card, the VPN connection is NOT getting made at all. One way to
test whether the VPN is in fact being made would be to 'ping' some known
node
inside on the network being VPN'ed to and see if it is present. (Do this
using
a NUMERIC ip-address for starters, so we don't yet have to be concerned with
whether or not the 'DNS' setup for you VPN is working correctly.

Hope this helps...

Dave

I can connect to VPN client from laptop using Linksys WUSB11 adapter,
however I'm unable to connect to VPN using WPC11 notebook card.

When connecting to VPN using the card I loose the internet connection, but
when VPN is disconnected the internet snaps back on . Have contacted
Linksys regarding this and I was sent auto-run files to add to notebook
wireless software--still no joy. Why the USB adapter - when used with the
notebook - will connect to VPN and notebook card will not is puzzling to say
the least. Have checked settings numerous times and all are set correctlly.
Otherwise, wireless network is working fine. Has anyone else experienced
this problem?

Sincerely,

Bob

Hardware is as follows:

Laptop: OS: WIN2000; HP Onmibook 6100
Router: BEFW11S4
Adapter: WUSB11
Adapter: WPC11

Let me rephrase...

I can 'tunnel in' successfully and access my network drives and mail at work
using the USB adapter; however, I can not accomplish this using the notebook
card. Our IS department has checked settings at both locations and can not
find an obvious reason why the card is not able to do this. Linksys (Cisco)
seemed to think that different drivers not available on their web site would
fix the problem. Installing new drivers didn't change anything. IS
department recommends that I contact Linksys tech-support for additional
guidance...which I will do... Has anyone else experienced this while using
WPC11 notebook card?

If your WPC11 is a version 4, there are beta drivers on the Linksys FTP
site. Some users have reported that these drivers fixed their VPN problems.
