I have a new IBM laptip running XP-Pro that cannot connect to a new linksys
dual band A+G wap. Here is what the setup looks like:
I have static IP dsl coming into my house. We use NAT, but do not use DHCP,
we define an address for each workstation. So there is a place I can't
reach with cat-5 and am trying to use wireless to this new laptop.
I simply plugged the wap into my switch, thinking the wap was just an
extension of an existing network I deleted netowrk bridging from the laptop.
To give you an idea of what my network looks like here is the configuration
off that laptop in XP-Pro:
IP 10.0.0.59
Subnet: 255.255.255.0
Gateway 10.0.0.1
dns 204.147.80.1
204.147.80.5
On this laptop under tcpip Properties, the box labeled WLAN transport is
unchecked.
In the dialog box Ireless network connection, I have checked the box: Use
Windows to confuture my wireless network settings.
I cannot get this wap to communicate with a laptop 6 feet away any help
would be greatly appreciated. I am just not That familiar with networking.
It is sometimes difficult to understand what question I should be asking.
Thank you
