Hi, I am in the process of setting up a wireless network within the home and
just wondered on what Wireless kits are fast, reliable and also value for
money.

I'll be connecting up 2x Dell Latitude Laptops and am currently subscribed
to NTL Broadband.

Any help would be appreciated.

JJ

If you want to spend money without reason go for the 11g

got a dlink 624 and 2 wireless g cards for xmas. it has hard wire connects
and wireless. Set it up in about 30 minutes, the security took about another
30 minutes. I just run wep 128 bit. Just remember that you set the security
in the router first, then your laptops. BTW I set the cards up in a Dell
Inspiron and a IBM t30 one running xp the other w2k.

Look for some price reductions on 802.11b equipment as manufactures
introduce newer equipment. I bough my Belkin AP/Router at Staples at
Thanksgiving for $18 after rebate. I went to Pricewatch.com and got a $15
(with free shipping) PCMCIA card for my laptop. All works great!

I've got a Netgear WRG614 Wireless Router plugged into a Telewest Cable
Modem and use a couple of Netgear WG511 PC Cards in an IBM Thinkpad 600 and
a Dell Latitude C610.

All of the above was purchased from Amazon. Ordered it online and two days
later arrived on the doorstep.

I've had no serious problems with this kit at all, the only niggle is the
fact that there are odd times when the signal level seems to disappear which
is a little strange when nothing is being moved. Have upgraded the firmware
on the Router with the latest 802.11g ratified firmware from Netgears
website, still hasn't resolved the signal issue though.

The only thing I can put it down to is signal interference from the analogue
cordless phones we have in the house.
