Wireless router WEP problems

Hi, I'm new to your site, so I hope this is the proper place for this
question.

I'm subletting an apt w/ wireless. I have the network name and
password, "bulldog."

The problem is when I enter the password I get an error message that
reads, "this network requires a hexidecimal password."

Is there a way to configure my laptop so I can enter the simple text
password I have been given???

Try buldog with one L only: the password must be 6 characters.
