I'm thinking of changing from a wired network to wireless. Any
recommendations as to the best cable wireless router ?

TIA.

Can't go wrong with a Netgear. Avoid Belkin like haemorrhoids.

depends to some extent on the size/type of house.
for a 3 bed semi, the netgear WGR614 v6 is worth a look (£50 delivere
from DSL Warehouse)
extremely easy to set up and re-configure
has ethernet port for connection to your stand alone cable modem (vi
cat5 cable)
for larger abodes, consider a 'rangemax' produc

No wireless on that one though. I'd personally go for a Linksys WRT54GS
(if you can get one < version 5) or a WRT54GL. I've got a v4 GS with
Sveasoft firmware on it and it's great.

Thanks for the suggestions. I'm now looking at Netgear and Linksys.

Hello,

I have just connected a Linksys Wireless Router WRT54GS, with Firmware
Version: v3.37.8 which I bought from Morgan for £27, wjhich was just
plug and play into the single port ethernet cable modem and it's
working great.

If you're fancy with other features that are not available on the stock
firmware, take a look at www.linksysinfo.org, there are quite a number fo
third party firmwares there, available for free. I'm currently using
Tomato 0.5 firmware (http://www.polarcloud.com/tomato), it has nice
features among others, ability to show your traffics in graphics mode..
the QoS easy configuration is an added advantage too.
