I have been using my local telephone company's DSL for my internet
connection. I have recently bought a new laptop for the office and at
home.
I bought a Linksys Wireless B Broadband Router (BEFW11S4) so that I
could
share my home DSL with my laptop. Trying to hook it up has been a pain and
have yet to get it to work.
The IT person at work was very familiar with my DSL provider and what I
needed to do. It seems that the internet cable provided by my provider has
a
wire pair crossed and requiring me to change the wireless default config.
from 192.168.1.1 to 192.168.2.1. I have done this and still can't get it
to
work. He told me to hook the router up directly to the computer first
without the internet connection to make these changes then afterwards hook
the modem to the router and it would work. Well im doing something wrong
because it ain't!
Can anyone give me step by step instruction to walk me through this? I
am
using Windows 2000 pro on the main computer.
I would appreciate your help.
