Wireless router and tv video senders

Hi
I currently use a Philips VL1200 video sender to transmit sky to one of the
bedrooms. I am contemplating cancelling my Pipex broadband and going with
Sky to utilise the wireless router (so I can surf with my laptop
downstairs). Would the wireless video sender interfere with a wireless
broadband router?

Thanks

You may find that the tv video sender will flood the 2.4GHz wifi channels.

I found this happening at home. A pal came with some sort of device that
displayed signals in the area and all I did was move the wifi channel away
from the video sender. I guess if you get problem son the wifi you could
just change its channel.

Interference definitely does occur but I find that it is by my
wireless router with the TV picture and audio. I also find that it
doesn't happen if I keep each transmitter and receiver out of the path
of the other pair if you know what I mean. Don't know about your
sender but my GigaAir one is in the 2.4GHz range.

Thanks for the replies. The video sender does user the 2.4Ghz carrier
signal.
So, can the wireless router's frequency be adjusted away from the video
sender?
How would the wireless card in the laptop be adjusted to match the
frequency?

Thanks

Check out Sky carefully before signing up. I have no idea how good or
bad they are.

I use a video sender to send from the lounge to 4 other TVs around the
house.
The video sender is closer to the PC and the laptop than the wireless
router is.
One of the video receivers is about 4ft from the PC.
We have 4 digital cordless phones whose base unit sits about a foot from
the wireless router.
Maybe we are lucky but we never seem to get any interference except for
the TV in the kitchen when we turn on the microwave.

Try it and see.

I did have to change the channel on the router to avoid interference
from another wireless network in the area. The cards in the PC and
automatically adjusted.

If you go wireless use security.

My video sender has 16 channels and my Wireless router has 15 channels -
They both run fine even at the default settings but theres a lot of room for
tweaking if necessary.

Hi
Re your TV in your kitchen, Sounds like your Microwave is faulty to me,
possible door seal leak, not good, especially when the cat's asleep on
it :-(

That depends on the router. Certainly my Netgear DG834GT allows that. The
default is channel 11 (near the top end of the band), I moved mine to 5.

You don't need to. It'll just work. When you change channel at the router
the laptop may lose the connection for several seconds, but should
automatically reconnect.

Some but not all do but if it doesn't you have to use the Windows wireless
configuration or the default one which comes with the cards drivers (for
instance Negear use their own in house configuration software & if you move
the router or wap frequency you have to manually rescan to find it again)
