I'm looking for recommendations for an 802.11g router and networking
card (for PCI bus).
We're trying to share an internet connection (Sympatico DSL) and
printers between two desktop computers.
The router should
- support WPA
- be configurable (MTU setting and perhaps opening the odd port)
- support a VPN from home to work
- support PPPoE(sp?)
- provide a firewall with NAT and SPI
- not interfere with a 2.4 Ghz phone
- provide solid performance out to 60 ft
The card should just work.
Am I asking the impossible? I was considering the Microsoft MN-700 or
the Dell TruMobile 2300, both of which got rave reviews on ZDNet
[1][2]. Until I read the user comments [3][4][5].
I'm not currently a fan of
- Linksys - out current router a BEFSR41 is giving us no end of
trouble (can't upgrade the firmware, ...)
- Belkin - for hijacking their user's browsers.
What do you recommend?
Mark Levison - software developer who is getting very confused in
wireless land.
PS way off topic I know, but this group always has savvy
recommendations.
