Wireless router, Access Point and Print Server Problem

I have the following setup

- Wireless Router Speedstream 2624, SSID: XXX, Channel 11, Fixed IP:
192.168.254.254, WEP enabled, DHCP Server Enabled
- Access Point D-Link DWL-700AP, SSID: XXX, Channel 6, Fixed IP:
192.168.254.85, WEP enabled, DHCP Server Disabled
- Wireless Print Server D-Link DP-311U, SSID: XXX, Channel: 6, Fixed IP:
192.168.254.90, WEP enabled

So far, so good. I can use my laptop and connect fine both to the router and
the access point. The laptops roams nicely and chooses the better
connection, either on channel 6 or channel 11. Internet works fine as well.

Here comes the problem: I can only see (ping) the print server if I am
connected on channel 11 (the router). Once I am connected on channel 6, I
cannot see (ping) the print server. As a result, printing also only works
when being on the channel 11 segment.

I have tried using channel 11 on the print server instead of 6, but the
behavior was the same. (The print server is much closer to the access point
than to the router, so I think channel 6 makes more sense). I have also
tried changing the default gateway maintained on the print server from
192.168.254.254 to 192.168.254.85 or 0.0.0.0, but the result is the same.

Any ideas or thoughts what may be causing this issue? Any help is
appreciated.

Regards.
Charles

Hi Charles,

did you try using channel 1 on the print server?

Same problem. I don't think it is an interference problem. The AP and the
router are transmitters and should therefore be on different channels. The
print server however is primarily a receiver and should be set to one of the
channels of the transmitters.

Anybode else has an idea?

Thanks.
