Wireless printer server printing to HP Deskjet spool problems?

When I print to my printer, HP5550C via my wireless Linksys WPS11 it takes a
long time after the print has completed before the printer goes back to an
idle state or prints the next document. Post printing it seems to take
approx 2 minutes to clear the printer icon from the windows XP taskbar and
the printer online light flashes whilst the icon remains. If I shutdown my
PC whilst the icon remains, when I boot back up again, the printer prints
out the last document again.
Also, my printer has an option to query the ink levels from the print
driver. If I attempt to do this, I get an error saying that "The computer
is unable to establish to-way communication with the device".

The Linksys manyual says that the WPS supports bi-tronic mode.
Does anyone else get these problems and are they fixable?

I'm using the WPS11 with an HP deskjet 6122. Yes, I have some of the
problems you note. Slow starting print jobs. Generally works well aside
from that.

You won't be able to communicate directly to the printer to check ink
levels.

I wish the HP printers would print the ink levels on a test page ...

Ah, so its not just me then - thats good to know!
Funilly enough HP support said to talk to Linksys, Linksys do not reply to
my emails.

Cheers,
Simon
