I'm thinking of having a wireless but I've heard of problems with phones.
What kind of wireless network would interfere with my wireless phones?
Thanks

It's usually the case that the phones interfere with your network. However,
if you have/get phones that use spread spectrum or frequency hopping
technology, you should be OK. FWIW, I've had 2.4GHz phones since before I
installed my WLAN and have had zero issues with interference.

Yeah. 802.11b is 2.4GHz. I have three 2.4GHz phones in my house and they
don't seem to have any detrimental effect on my 802.11b.

If you're worried about it, you can go for 802.11a (5GHz) but it is more
expensive and incompatible with 802.11b. Another altenative is to get
phones which operate on a different frequency.

I suggest you ask the salesperson if it will work if you have wireless
phones in the house, they'll probably say yes, then you can try it and take
it back if it doesn't.

You can look for 900Mhz digital phones. They're as good as the 2.4Mhz ones
despite many exagerated advertisement claims and they better get through
walls.

Yes, and some are even better.

Just for precision: "exagerated claims" is for 2.4Mhz phones.

Better range, they say! May be in open space or water... but in real life
the best 900Mhz DSS I've tried so far could go two blocks away (1000 feet I
guess) while the best 2.4Ghz DSS (even the ones called Extreme or Giga)
could only do few houses away at most (100 feet). Both for about $100 price.

I dont know, all the 900mhz phones I have cant even make it past the barn.
One cant even manage to work in the next room. My old 2.4ghz panasonic
works fine even off to the neighbors house, to the feed barn and such

The longest range phone we ever had was actually a cell phone by oki that
had a household base station. It worked clearly for 2 miles and
automatically switched to home base mode when near the house. It also had
the sense to tell you when the home line is in use. That cell phone
feature was the best I ever saw. You dont see them like that anymore.

Mmmmh! Seems we both have an "opposite" experience.

May be one phone technology is better in a particular environment. The
excellent 900MHz I got is made by LG using DSSS (direct sequence spread
spectrum) with 100 milliwatts max output (lower when close to base).
I also have a Panasonic with normal radio transmission at few milliwatts
only, 5 or 10 I think, this one has a short range even if the voice is
digitallized.
