Hi,

I need to purchase a Wireless card to enable a laptop to connect to
Sky Broadband.

Can anyone please recomend one, or alternatively which card/s NOT to
buy?

The laptop is a Dell Latitude D600

You're not mixing up WIFI and Bluetooth are you. The blurb says WIFI is
standard and Bluetooth is optional. What you need is WIFI and Mr Dell says
its there.

You, Mr Dell amd LSR are of course correct. It's the first timew I've
needed to use wireless on this laptop and because it didn't work I
assumed I hadn't ordered it - the real reason is that the drivers are
missing!!
I knew Bluetooth was there coz I actually remembered ordering that!

You just saved the cost (and hassle) of putting in a card. Justification,
in my view, for a celebratory glass (hic).

Most WiFi laptops have a switch to enable/disable the wireless to save
power.
On mine it is a real switch.. on the wife's it is fn F7 IIRC.
Worth checking it is turned on before attacking the drivers.

It seems you are able to read minds - only thing you have wrong is it
won't be one glass!!

Any card will work, wifi is generic standard thing. The fact that Sky
supply your broadband is not relevant.

> The laptop is a Dell Latitude D600

Nor is that.

Probably the most relevant thing that might influence e your choice is
what router you have? Since it's Sky Broadband it's probably a Netgear
DG834? If so a Netgear card might be sensible, but it's not going to
make any difference.
