Dear ng,
I'd really appreciate if someone could help with the following questions :
1/ Is the SSID only sent in beacon & association frames or is the SSID also
part of normal data frames ? I don't see any field for the SSID in the
wireless header frames so I suppose it is part of the payload ?
2/ What is the difference between an AP & a bridge ?
3/ What is the difference between an AP & a bridge running in AP mode ?
4/ When 802.1q trunking is configured on a bridge with x VLANs, x
subinterfaces are created. When the frames are sent from the wired network
to the wireless network, they are tagged on the wired network but is this
tag maintained on the wireless network ?
5/ What exactly is the assocation table used for ? Is it exact to say that
it maps a mac-address (the most important) to
- SSID
- VLAN
- next-hop (parent MAC-address)
Best regards,
- Thomas -
