I understand wireless networks interfere with SKY TV i.e. the wireless
receiver on the sky box.

Is this true and if so, what kind of problems does this cause?

THere is no wireless receiver, only infrared. It doesn't interfere with
that.

I have got a Sky receiver in the same room as my Netgear Wireless
Router and haven't noticed any problems with either.

And it certainly wont interfere with the receive freq which is in the
10GHz range approx.
