Wireless Networking with Win98se

I have a home wireless network with 2 machines (both XP) on it, and both work
fine. I also have an older machine which was 2000 that the worked fine,
however I have just downgraded the OS on this machine from 2000 to Win98se
(with a clean install). Now the wireless adapter will not connect to the
network.

I have started allowing the route to assign IP, Gateway, and DNS addresses
and nothing, so have tryed assigning them manually and still nothing.

I can ping the loop back address, but not the router,

I have TCP/IP protocol installed for the wireless adapter, File and printer
sharing, Client for Microsoft Networks, Microsoft Family Logon and the
Primary Network logon is set to Microsoft Family logon.

The Workgroup is set to the same as the other PCs and the router.

The wireless network utility is configured the same on all machines and still
NO NETWORK.

Any help would be great as I'm pulling my hair out.

Thanks

Not sure if this will help you. I had a problem with my WIN98se not finding
the network. It was because of the firewall in Norton Internet Security. If
you have this or another firewall, try temporarily disabling it and see if
that works. Mine did, so I configured NIS to allow communications from my
other computers and to allow TCP/IP connections to and fro.

I have now pin pointed the problem to the WPA-PSK encryption used on the
router, it seems that Windows 98 does have the capablity to handle this
encrption, which XP does. By disabling the encrption I could get a connection
to the internet via the wireless adapter, turn it back on and nothing.

So I'm now looking for some free software that will give Windows 98se WPA-PSK
encrption - any help would be great.

BTW I've try the free application from WSC but it doesn't work with my set up!
(Or I can't get it to work with my set up).
