I am looking for recommendations for wireless hardware, who has the best
compatibility with Linux, best distance, etc.
Or better yet, a site where comparison charts are available.

All info appreciated!

I was going to get a Linksys WRT54GS Wireless-G Broadband Router
http://store.yahoo.com/directron/wrt54gs.html

But I'm not sure you can use it to route ports (i.e., 80) to different
PC's on my network.

Thoughts?

To finish my thought.

This router seems to require a windows client to login/configure. also,
i can't find instructions for doing the routing on the linksys site.

Someone pointed out to me a firmware you can use to the 54gs to get it
to do routing stuff and use ip tables. http://www.openwrt.org/
This might be too much trouble though.

It requires access with an http browser.

I've had fits trying to figure out just exactly what the routing
configuration does... :-)

I haven't tried it yet, but I did acquire a second WRT54G just so I
can play with it and not destroy my wifi network... But I just got
it last week and haven't had a chance to do anything yet.

Oh, google is nice, but sometimes overwhelming. And something which
seemed cool 6 months ago is no longer cool. . I spent a good 2 hours
surfing sites about wireless access ports and linux (well, while at
work, not intensely).
Iinuxcompatible.org wasn't especially helpful.
