I am encountering major problems getting my wireless home networking
configured and continually working!

I have bought a 3com access point 802.11g, and intel pci 802.11g card
for my pc, also have in-built 802.11g wilreless lan card for my
laptop.

I got the laptop surfin for a week or so and suddenly lost the signal.

The same happened to my PC, but the signal comes back following a
re-boot of the access point. After a time (sometimes minutes,
sometimes hours) the signal fades to nothing and I need to re-boot
access point and pc again.

I have a third pc which I have eliminated from the problem by turning
off and abandoning it until I can find out why I keep losing the
signal.

All PC's are well within range of the access point.

I just feel that i'm missing something, any help would be very much
appreciated

there are sadly many things that can make a wirless signal appears to fade
away, not least other users, microwave ovens or DECT phones.
however, if you mean the signal strength actually slowly fades to nothing on
the display of a pc looking at a wireless signal bargraph type thing, then i
wonder if a channel change is worth a try, or maybe the AP is faulty.

have a look on the net & see if any other users are reporting this problem
with that box

On the AP was is the transmitt signal set to - is it 100% or Full or
what ever the maximum level is

otherwise a faulty AP - I would get in touch with 3Com.
