I have just set up my Belkin wireless network and all works well. I have to say
the Belkin helpdesk are brilliant - patient and adaptive to the client.
The network is set up as a direct USB link from my modem to my main laptop,
with a crossover cable to the wireless router and thence wireless to other
machines.
The link to the wireless network was set up using the XP wizard for home
networks.
My problem is that after booting up my main computer I have to "switch on"
Internet Connection Sharing. I connect from my (supervisor) user account. I
have to go to View Network Connections and then right click on the Virtual
Private Network icon and select Properties and then Advanced. In Internet
Connection sharing I have to click on the greyed out box ( always greyed out )
that says "allow other users to connect through this computer's internet
connection"
When I click OK it says "The user name and password for this connection were
not saved for use by all users. As a result Internet Connection Sharing can
only dial this connection when you are logged in. To enable automatic dialling,
save your user name and password for all users in the Connect Dialog."
I cannot set the network running from another user account, although I want to.
It seems the key is in the words above "To enable automatic dialling, save your
user name and password for all users in the Connect Dialog" How do I set this
up so that anyone on the home machine can set the network going?
