Hi,

Sorry for the slightly ot, but I assume there are quite a few visitors here
who might have a tip for me...

Have any of you seen suppliers of 'affordable' wireless thermostats which
can control heating sources in a house. I would like to control my house
from my Linux box via 'ordinary' wLAN and not some proprietary stuff...

Thanks for any hints or info on wLAN remote switches and sensors

regards

Tor

I'd recommend using some tiny uC with ip stack and then connect it to
a wireless controller of any sort.

Or, have a look at http://www.hoeft-wessel.com/en/products/HW86050.htm
which may be of interest.

Basically, this latter link shows some wlan-to-serial converter. I
haven't read through the specs, but I understand that this is very
similar to some USB-to-serial converters that became popular when USB
was new.

Anyways, hope this helps,

Cheers, Jack.

My personal reading of the string "MicroSoft" expands to "NanoWeak"...

Thanks for that one Frank.

I also thought that it would be a huge market for such modules and I'm
amazed that noone haven't started mass-production of WiFi compatible
switches and various sensors at affordable prices ...
