hi

I couldnt find a 3Com Newsgroup so i am hoping someone here knows about
things.

At work they have a wireless BT Broadband, router is a 3Com Office Connect.

Theres no networking between computers they just wireless connect to the
router to get on the internet, emails etc.

I wanted to connect this Win 98 pc there is there by using a USB Adapter
So i bought a 3Com (3CRUSB10075) USB Office Connect Wireless 54Mbps 11g
Compact USB Adapter
(http://www.3com.com/prod/en_UK_EMEA/...ku=3CRUSB10075
)

Plugged it in loaded up the software and all seemed well

But i cant get it to connect to the router to go on the internet or do
emails?

Is anyone familiar with this product, and know what im doing wrong?

I wanted it to wireless connect to the internet like the laptops do at work
but a temporary connection when needed.

thanks
shirl

Can you SEE thewireless network you want to connect to? (You will need
to know the SSID or network name - the wireless adapter should show
available networks and that should be one of them.
Do you know what the encryption of the required network is?
(uinencrypted or WEP or variations of WAP or other- type depends on
environment - a work environment will have different encryption to a
home network - your wireless adapter must support the encryption type
used by the router)
Do you have the encryption key for that network and have you configured
your wireless adapter with the right encryption type and the right key?

The adapter should show you the available wireless networks, including
the one you actually mean to connect to, but if they are encrypted,
which a work wireless network should be, then you can't actually connect
to the router without setting up the encryption method and the key.

On Usenet via your ISP's provided NNTP news server or via google groups go
