Wireless Network Locking Up???

I have cable internet(8mbps down/384kbps up), Motorola SB5100 cable
modem, a D-Link VOIP adapter in front of my Belkin Wireless Pre- N
router, and my laptop says it has a Atheros wireless network adapter in
it.
I can download fine most of the time but when i upload pics it locks
up. My internet connect shows it is still up but i cant get on the net.
It also does this when a web page is slow to come up. I have to unplug
the router to get it back up.
I was thinking of getting the Belkin wireless card that goes with the
router to see if it would stop locking up. Plus it would run at 108Mbps
instead of 54Mbps it runs at right now.
