I have interfaced these to linux:
device: dlink 122 USB 802.11b
driver:
http://www.linux-wlan.com
device: Netgear WG311 PCI 802.11b/g
driver:
http://madwifi.sourceforge.net/
I mostly use the dlink on an old amd k6-400 & I don't notice any undue
resource drain, so your 700 should handle wireless just fine.
What isn't obvious from the outset, is that Linux can put either of
these 2 devices [& drivers] into master mode effectively making them
into access points capable of bridging wireless networks & wireless to
wired networks. Of course, that can get you into route table madness
but it just takes time to sort it all out...:-)
Other useful sites for me have been
http://www.hpl.hp.com/personal/Jean_Tourrilhes/Linux/
http://prism54.org/
http://at76c503a.berlios.de/devices.html
Key is to know which drivers are available when you go shopping for
your wireless card.
