What channel are you currently using? You can use Netstumbler to view the
channel's that the AP's in your vicinity are using. If possible you should
try and use a channel that is at least 3 away from those AP's nearest to
you:
http://www.netstumbler.com/
Once you have changed the channel you are using, this should minimise the
chance of you being 'blackholed' by other AP's (you should have also set
your wireless adapter to infrastructure only mode, so that adhocs cannot
cause you any issues).
