i run a wireless network involving a wireless router and
wireless network card. the card connects to the router no
problem, but the minute you try to access the internet in
ANY program-- IE, Mozilla, Outlook etc-- it gives a fault
and crashes immediatly. IE basically crashes upon the
minute it starts to download information from the web.

can someone help me? I even exchanged network cards from
a USB wireless network card to a PCI wireless network card
and the problem remains. I run Win98 SE.

Are you sure your computer is clean of spyware, adware, viruses and such?

it worked fine with the regular cabled-network as opposed
to the wireless one. the network worked with just the
wireless router being hooked up to physically by a patch
cable, but when i removed the regular NIC and installed
the wireless one, my ability to access anything online
through any program was locked down. that said, i DO have
Norton Anti-Virus installed, and cannot figure out how to
UNinstall it. it is disabled and has been since before i
tried installing the drivers and what not, but i suppose
it could still be part of the problem, could it not?

A lot of spyware apps go bug-nuts and muck up your network connection when
you change from one network connection to another. Believe me, you won't be
the first; you won't be the last.

Get a copy of AdAware (and the latest updates, and the instructions to
manually install them, since you won't be downloading them on this PC, I
imagine). Install it, update it, run it. Kill everything it finds. Then
restart and run it again. Keep running and restarting until you're clean.

If all you have is Norton Antivirus (not the firewall) I doubt that's your
problem here.
