I have Virgin broadband. As I need a new wireless router, I thought
it would be nice to reduce the number of cables/plugs and get a
combined modem/router. Although the virginmedia website list a few
ASDL modem/routers, it is unclear if they will work on my current (ex
NTL) connection.

Can someone please clarify?

Many thanks,

Red.

Depends how the BB comes to your house.

If via cable then you need their cable modem and a wireless router.
If via a telephone line a combined ADSL modem, router & wireless can be
used.
