After upgrading XP Home with Service Pack 2, my wireless
network no longer works. It states I have the wrong
security key code entered, even when I remove the
security code from the router. Any ideas on how to fix
this????

Stop using the BNU (Broadband Network Utility) to configure wireless
connections on Windows XP computers. While you are at it you might as
well uninstall the BNU on all wired & Windows XP computers as those
computers don't even need it.

I have been offline for awhile cause I have been trying to get this
useless Microsoft hardware to work, Doesnt it seem odd that everyone
has the same problem, and after spending 7 hours on the phone with
Gungadin we still aint got nada. He says, maybe I need a new Base
Station(I have mn500)
Well I unplugged verizon modem and mn500 last night. Came back about 10
hours later...turned everything back on, reset to factory settings...and
mn510 started wqorking..no flashing. But after about two hours...my
neighbors are comin home from work..and I have no wireless connections
anymore. I did notice something tho, you know when you check propertys
and ya get those two boxes, one says..Preferred Networks and thew other
says Installed or somethig, anyways...Im showing TWO??? One is Linksys?
and it dont have no Red X on it. And the other says Mshome and its Xed
out.(Thats mine. )So I go out in the yard walkin round with my laptop
like a fool. ANd the Linksys jumps up to the top box which is where MY
net should be. I know somebody is monitoring my stuff and loading it up
with new wep codes, thats why I cant get in. I cant even reinstall or
check options cause I cant connetc wirelessly. Wired wont do it. Isnt
there anyone from MS, speaks English, and knows whats up?? Now I know it
aint my Base station. Hey everybody yer routers are OK. Yer neighbors suck.

After installing SP2 on my XP, my MS Wireless still worked
but I kept getting a window that stated it had a
compatibity issue with this version of Windows and
referred me to the MS Wireless Website:
http://www.microsoft.com/hardware/Br...tworking/AutoU
pdate2/CheckUpdates.asp There you need to download and
install the update containing the Broadband Network
Utility, USB Adapter MN-510 Drive, Base Station MN-500
Bootware, and the Base Station MN-500 Runtime
Firmware......Use "Open" rather than "Save" when prompted
in the File Download. You have a problem getting the
Network Utility to update properly like me......my icon on
my Taskbar disappeared and I couldn't bring it up in the
Start menu. So, I had to then download the MS Broadband
Setup software from the MS Broadband Website.....couldn't
use my CD because my computer had a later version
installed. I installed the software as if I were
installing a USB Adapter for the first time. Now my
wireless network works perfect with XP Pro SP2. "Where
there's a will, there's way"! Tom
