Wireless Laptop as Wireless accesspoint - possible?

Hi There,

I have a traditional Wired network setup where one main PC connected to the
internet via USB broadband uses ICS to share the internet connection with
other PC's on my network via an Ethernet switch.

I have just purchased a laptop with built in wireless capability but I still
connect this to my wired network so it has internet access.

I also have a Wireless Dell axim that I want to get on the net. However,
when I try to enable internet connection sharing on the wireless network
connection on my laptop it will not allow me stating there is already a
device with providing ICS on the network.

My question is therefore, how can I "forward on" my internet access to my
wireless dell axim through the laptop that is connected. I tried doing an
"ad hoc" network but it did not really seem to work.

Any help on this matter is greatly appreciated.

Your setup sounds a little more complicated (to me anyway) than it
needs to be.

Just a suggestion... Buy a wireless/router/switch (something like a
D-Link DI-624), and forget about ICS. They're pretty cheap these days
($80 or so). Assuming your broadband modem has an Ethernet port on it,
just connect it to the WAN port on the wireless router. You can then
connect away with wired and wireless nodes. Obviously, there's some
configuration involved, to suit your needs. But, seems like a cleaner
solution.

If you want to shop around for prices, www.froogle.com works well

Thanks for that Chet. My ISP only used to support a custom router that did
not have ISP. Therefore my only option for Networking was ICS. However they
have just put me on their new wireless trial so this sorted this problem.
